Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will be part of the Engineering Department. In this position you will serve as the direct supervisor of the surface survey team. You will be responsible for leading the team in coordination, prioritization, delegation, and execution of survey tasks requested by various departments. You will act as a mentor to team members, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and fostering professional development. You are also expected to spend time in the field to support the Survey Team, conduct quality assurance activities, perform audits, and provide additional assistance during peak workload periods. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
Ensure your own health and safety, as well as that of your colleagues, by promoting the use of work cards and applying the Supervisory Formula principles;
Plan, organize, and prioritize daily tasks for the survey team in alignment with work execution plans;
Provide coaching and mentorship to the survey team through both technical and soft skill training;
Ensure appropriate workforce allocation and maintain an accurate and effective teamwork schedule;
Manage the ordering and maintenance of survey equipment and supplies;
Complete survey measurements and calculations of surface stockpiles for the end-of-month reporting process;
Collaborate to budgeting and forecasting exercises and ensure adequate cost control within the allocated budget;
Act as backup Short-Term Planner and Drill & Blast Technician in the absence of regular personnel;
Spend regular time in the field validating conditions, identifying risks, and working with crews to improve tasks execution;
Identify optimization opportunities and implement improvements within the Open Pit Survey team.
College level technician diploma or higher, in mining or in a related field;
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in surveying, mining environments preferred;
Good software skills: Deswik, AutoCAD, Pix4D, Microsoft Office Suite;
Ability to lead and support others, whether through formal supervision or informal team coordination;
Clear and respectful communication style, with the ability to work effectively across trades, technical teams, and leadership;
Strong safety habits and situational awareness;
Experience working in a multicultural environment.
Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.
Your Work Schedule:
Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Mirabel or Val d’Or, Quebec;
Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
