Reporting to the Supervisor, Engineering, you will be part of the Engineering Department. Given the remote location and scale of the operations, you may be required to broaden your scope of responsibilities and demonstrate proficiency and autonomy in relevant areas. You will be accountable for the design, planning, and execution of engineering services for the underground project. Responsibilities include short-range and mid-range planning, mine design, ventilation, mine services, construction, and other production-related projects. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Develop weekly and 3‑month mining plans in collaboration with mining operations and other stakeholders;
Support the Long-Range Planner by ensuring short- and mid-range plans align with the long-range plan;
Lead design review meetings for lateral development and general level design;
Design, plan and approve ventilation, water management and underground construction systems;
Coordinate and follow up with consultants on underground construction projects;
Identify and procure all required components to successfully deliver projects;
Support the implementation of technology expansion projects, driving team performance and productivity;
Align weekly priorities with Mine Technicians and Underground Surveyors;
Collaborate with the Geology Department and E&I on stockpile management;
Review and approve layouts for lateral development, ventilation, mine services and construction;
Provide relief coverage for Mine Technicians, performing field duties such as surveying, ventilation, ground support and mine services as required;
Prepare and deliver KPI reports on project development;
Promote innovation and continuous improvement in safety and productivity;
Perform other assigned duties.
Bachelor's degree in mining engineering;
4-5 years of experience in a similar role in the engineering field;
Experience in a leadership role is considered an asset.
Professional designation (P.Eng.) in the Northwest Territories/Nunavut (NAPEG) or another jurisdiction and able to quickly obtain designation;
Excellent attention to detail;
Experience working in a multicultural environment;
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team;
Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office software, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Note that the official working language at Hope Bay is English.
Your Work Schedule
Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest; flights departing from Edmonton, AB and Yellowknife, NWT;
Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
