The opportunity
- We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Architect to join Hitachi Energy’s Digital Transformation Program, providing end-to-end architecture leadership for the Grid and Power Quality Solutions and Service Business.
- This is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for defining the target-state architecture, integration and implementation strategy centered around product lifecycle management and ensuring seamless interoperability with ERP systems (SAP), BIM, and other supporting enterprise systems, spanning custom-built applications and COTS (Commercial-off-the-shelf) products integrated into the landscape.
- The Principal Architect will drive architectural direction, lead cross-domain solution design, and provide guidance to a team of Business Analysts, Functional Consultants, and other Solution Architects to ensure cohesive and scalable architecture delivery across the program.
- The Principal Architect will operate from within the R&D organization supporting digital transformation through integration solutions and further developments.
How you’ll make an impact
Lead the end-to-end solution and enterprise architecture within the Digital Transformation Program.
- Define and maintain the architecture blueprint, reference models, and roadmap that align PLM, ERP, BIM, and other digital systems into an integrated ecosystem, thus implementing the digital thread concept.
- Provide strategic direction and technical leadership on PLM architecture, including integrations with SAP ERP, BIM, CAD, and related systems.
- Oversee architecture design, standards, and governance, ensuring all solutions align to target-state vision and enterprise principles.
- Partner with business, technology, IT and SME leaders to translate business goals into executable architecture strategies.
- Lead cross-functional teams of architects, BAs, and consultants/developers to ensure consistent architecture realization across the business portfolios.
- Define and enforce integration patterns, common data models, and interoperability standards.
- Drive innovation through evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies (Cloud, Digital Twin, IIoT, AI/ML).
- Serve as the primary architectural authority and advisor to the Digital PLM Program Leadership and business stakeholders.
- Ensure all architectural decisions support scalability, performance, security, and maintainability requirements.
Your background
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
- 15+ years of overall IT/Software Development experience, including at least 5 years in solution and/or enterprise architecture roles.
- Proven experience in Digital PLM transformations, with strong knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter architecture (mandatory).
- Deep understanding of PLM–ERP–BIM integration architectures, data models, and process alignment.
- Strong experience in SAP integration, master data management, and enterprise interoperability.
- Demonstrated ability to define and execute architecture frameworks and governance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills across business and technology domains.
- Ability to influence and align multiple portfolios toward a common architecture vision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Teamcenter Active Workspace, configuration and BOM management.
- Familiarity with Digital Thread / Digital Twin architectures.
- Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure) and modern integration technologies.
- Understanding and proven experience of modern microservice-oriented architectures.
- Knowledge and experience with defining and designing for cross-cutting concerns, such as cyber security and compliance, data and configuration management, observability, deployment and testing automation, performance and scalability.
- TOGAF, ArchiMate, or similar architecture certification preferred.
- Experience in energy, utilities, or manufacturing industries is an advantage.
