Job Description
The Maintenance Technician I supports the maintenance, installation, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment. This role is ideal for someone looking to further develop their technical skills while working in a fast-paced industrial environment under experienced supervision.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams
- Perform and support mechanical repairs to improve plant processes and equipment reliability
- Troubleshoot, repair, and adjust production and safety equipment
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with established procedures
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, including LOTO/TO (LOTOTO), confined space, and company policies
- Maintain and repair plant equipment, ensuring work orders are completed on schedule
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to minimize production disruptions
- Assist with planning and installation of new equipment and capital projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
- Accurately document completed work, system updates, and process improvements
- Perform welding and other hot work as needed
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician in an industrial setting (may be waived based on experience)
- Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights (stairs, ladders, elevated platforms)
- Ability to use hand tools and operate site equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) knowledge
- Forklift and warehouse experience
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance systems
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Basic math skills (fractions, geometry)
