About the role

The Director of Nursing and Operations – North is responsible for leading integrated clinical and operational services across HammondCare’s Northern Sydney portfolio. This includes inpatient and community palliative care, Older Persons Mental Health services, and working collaboratively with associated enabling services.

The role exists to shape a high‑performing, person‑centred and financially sustainable service system, ensuring care is safe, effective and aligned with HammondCare’s Mission. It brings together clinical leadership, operational oversight and system improvement, creating the conditions for teams to deliver excellent care and continuously improve.

Working in close partnership with the Executive General Manager and the broader Health leadership team, the role balances strategic direction with operational delivery, strengthening relationships with NSLHD and other partners, and ensuring services are responsive to current and future community needs.

About you

  • Commitment to HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.

  • Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current AHPRA registration.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Management, or working toward same.

  • Significant leadership experience in hospital and/or sub-acute healthcare settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead integrated clinical and operational services across multiple sites.

  • Strong financial and operational management capability, including budget accountability.

  • Experience working within complex health systems and service agreements (e.g. with LHDs).

  • Proven ability to lead and implement service improvement and change initiatives.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and partnership skills.

  • Highly developed communication, leadership and organisational skills.

  • Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel across sites.

  • Postgraduate qualification in healthcare leadership, management or a related field (Desirable).

  • Experience leading service transformation or large-scale change in healthcare( Desirable).

  • Experience across palliative care, aged care or mental health service settings (Desirable).
