Thompson Facilities Services at Lincoln University is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Day Porter to support the cleanliness, appearance, and overall maintenance of facilities at Lincoln University.

 

The Day Porter plays a critical role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors by performing routine cleaning, light maintenance, and event support duties throughout the day. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, flexibility, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced campus environment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, lobbies, and common areas throughout the day
• Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal
• Monitor and restock restroom and facility supplies as needed
• Respond quickly to spills, accidents, and urgent cleaning requests
• Assist with event setup and breakdown for campus meetings and activities
• Conduct light maintenance duties and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
• Maintain cleaning equipment and storage areas in an organized manner
• Follow all safety procedures, company policies, and OSHA standards
• Provide professional and courteous customer service to students, faculty, staff, and guests

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Previous porter, custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout the workday

Physical requirements

• Flexible schedule availability, including possible evenings or weekends

• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and lifting during daily cleaning activities
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds regularly
• Ability to operate standard custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely and effectively
• Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions as needed
• Must be able to respond quickly to spills, cleaning requests, and facility support needs across campus
• Ability to climb stairs and move throughout multiple buildings during the workday
