As a senior Release Train Software Engineer – Level 6 located in Morrisville, NC, you’ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
What You’ll get to Do: We are looking for a Release Train Engineer to facilitate program level processes and execution, drive continuous improvement, and remove roadblocks to program execution. The RTE will serve as the Chief Scrum Master for the organization and associated feature teams. The position will partner with the Chief Product Owner, Chief Engineer, and System Architect to lead an agile software development organization focused on meeting dynamic customer requirements and delivering mission critical capabilities. The RTE will orchestrate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, and ensure a predictable, high‑quality flow of software execution from concept through sustainment. The team is dynamic, highly focused, and is looking to add a leader to help drive execution in developing new and impactful capabilities.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Act as the RTE/Chief Scrum Master coordinating and driving scrum execution for the Software Organization.
Collaborate with Product Owners to ensure complete and accurate product backlog.
Own and oversee Agile framework processes and procedures. These include increment planning, demos, scrum execution, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.
Provide leadership to feature teams and act as a consultant/coach to the management to resolve contingencies and complex issues.
Identify and manage dependencies across feature teams.
Monitor and control execution through the identification and tracking of leading performance indicators.
Identify and track agile performance metrics to identify performance trends and support continuous improvement.
Ensure effective identification and management of issues, risks and opportunities.
Drive issues and decisions to closure considering competing points of view, constraints, customer/stakeholder priorities and program strategic objectives.
Help build and sustain an effective, engaged, and integrated team in a complex, geographically dispersed, and dynamic environment.
Act as primary program contact for mission software products, and work with program leadership to monitor and address technical execution.
Effectively coordinate and collaborate with program and Northrop Grumman functional leadership to ensure required staffing, processes and infrastructure are available to efficiently execute program objectives.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of professional experience – OR – Master’s degree with 12 years of professional experience – OR – PhD with 10 years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
Requires an active Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with willingness and ability to submit for and favorably succeed a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph
Must have a combined work experience relevant to technical, functional, project leadership, or major IPT leadership supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or other Federal Government Systems.
8 years of organizational management or IPT leadership experience
5 years of SW development experience
Demonstrated ability to create trusted relationships with stakeholders
Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative management style, and an inherent drive to deliver on commitments
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Familiarity with and willingness to work in a secure environment
Leadership experience building effective and engaged multi-discipline teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Favorably adjudicated CI or FS polygraph
STEM degree
Experience leading large agile software development efforts
Experience developing data processing software systems in the defense industry
Experience delivering software into a Cloud environment
Demonstrated depth of experience in System Engineering and/or Software Development
Excellent conflict management and negotiation skills
Effective dealing with personnel issues
Proven ability to effectively work across multiple organizations to form teams, gain internal support, act with speed, and make tough decisions

Primary Level Salary Range: $184,100.00 - $276,100.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
