Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Through the implementation of innovative and research best practices, the Pre-K Instructional Support Specialist supports curriculum & instructional initiatives for Pre-K classrooms (4-year olds) to ensure a high-quality early learning program. The Specialist also assists with planning and implementing professional development, student assessment processes and initiating, supporting, and monitoring the referral and Response to Intervention/Student Support Team process for Pre-Kindergarten.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree in Education, Early Childhood, Reading, or related field required.
  • Additional years of equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Must hold a valid Georgia Professional certification at a T-4 level or higher, or be eligible for a non-renewable certificate.

WORK EXPEREINCE:

  • 5 Years of successful teaching experience
  • Experience working with students in primary (Pre-K � 2nd) setting
  • Experience planning and implementing professional learning opportunities
  • Experience in K�12 education or public sector preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Written and oral communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and data entry
  • Leadership skills
  • Strong knowledge of literacy instruction and differentiation
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create productive and healthy relationships
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and analytical skills with outstanding attention to detail
  • Deep understanding of early learning curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of Bright from the Start program requirements
  • Above-average analytical skills and attention to detail

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides job-embedded coaching to Pre-K teachers through observations, feedback, co-planning, and co-teaching
  • Models high-impact instructional strategies, including developmentally appropriate practices, differentiation, and classroom management
  • Supports teachers in designing standards-aligned lessons that promote language development, early literacy, and numeracy
  • Ensures implementation of Georgia Early Learning Developmental Standards (GELDS) through aligned instruction and classroom practices
  • Guides creation of engaging, play-based learning experiences integrating literacy, language, and math, and supports Pre-K to Kindergarten alignment
  • Leads analysis of student data (e.g., Work Sampling Online, formative assessments) and develops action plans to improve outcomes
  • Monitors student progress and adjusts instructional strategies to meet learning goals
  • Designs and facilitates professional learning and leads Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to strengthen instructional practice
  • Supports Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), including identification of student needs, targeted interventions, progress monitoring, and collaboration with SST, Special Education, and Head Start

  • Monitors program quality and compliance, conducts instructional walkthrough, supports curriculum fidelity, and promotes collaboration with stakeholders and family engagement.

  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative

Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.

Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 15 or more pounds on a frequent basis.

Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.

Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress

Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities:  Will require travel to multiple sites.
