- Hardware Installation Review: Review installation of all BAS control panels, controllers, sensors, actuators, valves, and field devices according to design specifications and submittal drawings.
- Panel Assembly: Assist with control panels in the shop, ensuring proper documentation.
- Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment at all times, strictly following company safety policies and all job site safety regulations.
- System Checkout: Conduct comprehensive point-to-point and system continuity checks to verify the integrity of all installed wiring and devices.
- Power-Up: Safely power up control panels and perform initial controller addressing, network setup, and communication verification (e.g., BACnet, Modbus).
- Calibration: Perform initial calibration and functional testing of sensors, transducers, and actuators to ensure accuracy before final commissioning.
- Project Team Collaboration: Coordinate daily work activities with the Project Manager, Field Operations Manager, and other trades (electricians, mechanical teams) to ensure seamless workflow and maintain the project schedule.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, wiring, and communication issues encountered in the field.
- Documentation: Mark up red-line drawings and checklists to reflect accurate as-built conditions and changes made during installation, ensuring clear documentation for the project team.
- Functional Testing: Support the project team during the commissioning phase by assisting with functional tests (e.g., VAV box checkout, AHU sequencing) to verify control sequences are operating correctly.
- Punchlist Completion: Expediently complete all assigned punchlist items and final adjustments needed for system acceptance.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Technician in the Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or a related low-voltage industry.
- Deep knowledge of control wiring, low-voltage power distribution, and safe working practices on commercial construction sites.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical documents, including control drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical plans.
- Proficiency with hand tools, electrical metering equipment (multimeters), and basic computer networking concepts for controls.
- Strong commitment to quality workmanship, attention to detail, and maintaining a positive attitude in a demanding field environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites throughout the region.
- Technical school degree or vocational training in HVAC, Electrical, or Controls Technology.
- Experience with Tridium Niagara or Delta Controls.
- OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
