The Department of Youth Services (DYS) provides stability, support, safety, and security for all youth and employees at DYS. Senior Juvenile Parole Officers provide valuable experience and knowledge to the youth in our care.

We are recruiting for a Senior Juvenile Parole Officer in our Northern Region, reporting to our Cleveland Regional Office. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate regional parole activities for caseloads located in counties assigned

  • Serve as liaison to other facilities, agencies, courts and community support services

  • Monitor and maintain departmental security threat group information in coordination with law enforcement

  • Coordinate and monitor volunteer program as required by the regional administrator

  • Develop case plans to support successful transition of juvenile offenders back into community and monitor while on parole from DYS facility to ensure compliance with terms of release

  • Assist with and coordinate American Correctional Association while serving as a member of the BOP accreditation managers team; monitors compliance of ACA standards as well as maintenance of accreditation files in document management system

  • Participate in establishing, directing and monitoring social services programs via on site visits, face to face contacts and monthly reports

Undergraduate core coursework in criminal justice, criminology, social work, sociology or related field; and 6 mos. exp. in probation or parole case management &/or probation or parole crisis management; and 36 mos. exp. as a juvenile parole officer. 

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

PRE-SERVICE TRAINING:

All new candidates hired to the Department of Youth Services are required to attend 3 weeks of mandatory, paid training at the Correctional Training Academy in Orient, Ohio. Training Academy hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Travel, meals, and lodging are provided.
