Department: Quality
Reports to: Quality Supervisor
Status: Full-time
Shift: Evening shift (approx. 3:00 PM–11:30 PM or 4:00 PM–12:30 AM), with initial day-shift training and flexibility for potential rotation between day and evening shifts.
The pay range for the role is $41,000 to $68,300 plus bonus, comprehensive benefits, retirement savings plan, paid vacation, and other perks and opportunities.
Purpose:
Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, this position is responsible for day-to-day running of the lab including all required daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly tests and calibrations and as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducts daily chemical tests, including pH, fat, moisture and salt
Performs microbiological tests, for Coliform, E. coli, Staph, yeast and mold
Performs all necessary equipment calibrations within the plant
Conducts environmental testing, including air quality, water and equipment swabs
Performs lab documentation in a timely and accurate manner
Cleans, prepares and maintains laboratory equipment
Maintains a clean and safe lab area at all times
Conducts daily GMP inspections
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Post-Secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology or related discipline
Minimum 2 years of experience in the food industry
Understanding of CFIA regulations and FSEP/SFCR requirements is an asset
Experience with MS office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook)
Ability to work off shift, various hours and some weekends
