Purpose
The Manager, Business Analysis is responsible for leading the development, governance, and execution of SJF’s data, reporting, analytics, and compensation processes.
The role oversees the end-to-end delivery of management reporting, performance analytics, and compensation administration, while ensuring data integrity and alignment with business strategy. The incumbent provides strategic insights to senior leadership, supports key growth initiatives, and enhances processes through automation and continuous improvement.
This role builds on core analytical responsibilities by adding ownership, leadership, and accountability across reporting and compensation functions, as well as acting as a key liaison between SJF leadership, Finance, and other partner teams.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

Lead SJF Reporting & Analytics Strategy

  • Own the development and maintenance of a centralized repository of financial, client, and business metrics
  • Oversee delivery of monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc management reporting and dashboards
  • Ensure reporting is accurate, consistent, and aligned to SJF strategic priorities
  • Translate data into clear insights and recommendations for senior leadership
  • Lead the design and evolution of KPIs supporting growth, productivity, and client outcomes

 

Support key strategic initiatives

  • Lead or support key strategic projects, including business growth initiatives and process transformation
  • Develop business cases, track performance, and report progress to leadership
  • Ensure alignment between analytics outputs and broader business objectives


Support the execution of compensation plan administration

  • Oversees the calculation and validation of compensation metrics and payouts
  • Governance and auditability of compensation processes
  • Timely distribution of compensation reporting and supporting materials
  • Handling inquiries from the Relationship Managers and Regional and Market Leadership teams.  
  • Liaise with and co-ordinate internal departments to resolve issues being encountered with field staff 


Process Optimization & Data Governance

  • Lead initiatives to automate and optimize reporting and data processes
  • Establish and enforce data governance standards, controls, and validation processes
  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies across source systems
  • Improve scalability, efficiency, and reliability of analytics infrastructure


Stakeholder Management & Business Support

  • Act as a trusted advisor to SJF leadership, Regional Directors, and Finance partners
  • Provide expert support on:
    • Reporting interpretation
    • Compensation outcomes
    • Business performance insights
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives and ensure alignment across teams
  • Support rollout of new initiatives and business processes impacting the field


Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts
  • Provide directions on priorities, deliverables, and quality standards
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Build team capability in analytics tools (Power BI, SQL, VBA, Python) and business knowledge

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We would love to work with you if you have:

  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have good knowledge of the broad Wealth Management offering
  • Have a good understanding of the Wealth Management Business
  • 4-5 years of related experience with an emphasis on data and trend analysis and research
  • Strong mathematical aptitude, analytical skills and knowledge of statistical concepts and methodology
  • Advanced excel knowledge required to effectively write queries, develop reports, analyze data, identify trends and create graphical illustrations for presentations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Access and Power BI
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both as a team member and independently with general oversight
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility and commitment to follow through
  • Significant level of expertise in the mining, gathering and analyzing of relevant information / data with a focus on maintaining a high level of data validity, effective and efficient extraction of information and the ability to distribute and present results in a highly professional format
  • High-level understanding of applicable business line objectives within Private Investment Counsel and Scotia Wealth Management
