Arts and Sciences | Chemistry and Biochemistry AdministrationThe Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University seeks a Research Technician to join our team. The Research Technician assists laboratory personnel and research staff in the execution and documentation of experiments and research activities. This position supports ongoing research projects by preparing and extracting samples for laboratory analysis by more senior researchers, following established protocols, and assisting with data collection, organization, and basic analysis. The Research Technician uses standard research procedures and protocols to complete routine experiments and research tasks under general supervision. The role supports both quantitative and qualitative research activities, including identifying themes and summarizing participant focus groups or interviews. The Research Technician ensures accurate documentation and contributes to efficient research operations. The position requires basic knowledge of standard processes and/or tools, typically gained through on-the-job experience and training. The Research Technician may serve as an informal resource for less experienced team members. This position will assist with work on an investigation of the role of tRNA quality control pathways in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The Research Technician will support work in the area of Biochemistry, including assisting with the organization and analysis of genetic and enzyme activity assay data. Responsibilities may include preparing figures and graphs, updating code or datasets as applicable, and supporting data analysis for presentations and manuscripts. Additional duties include assisting with implementation of standard research protocols and experiments such as RNA preparation and sequencing. The Research Technician will also support laboratory operations, including maintaining equipment, receiving and storing reagents and supplies, and organizing laboratory space, samples, and materials.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelors in Biochemistry or related field
Required Qualifications
· At least one (1) year of relevant experience supporting laboratory, research, or project-based work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
· Basic knowledge of standard research processes, protocols, and/or tools, typically gained through on-the-job training or experience
· Ability to follow established procedures and protocols with attention to detail
· Ability to recognize and resolve routine issues using established guidelines, with guidance from a supervisor when needed
· Ability to evaluate and select solutions from established options or procedures
Desired Qualifications
· Relevant laboratory or research experience is preferred.

The pay range for this job profile is $15.86 - $20.74. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
