Job Description
The Production Operator is tasked with setting up, monitoring, and maintaining machines and equipment used in production lines. Schedule and coordinate the daily production operations. The Production Operator monitors the tobacco manufacturing process to ensure all specifications are met and the product meets acceptable quality standards.
- Diagnose machine problems, respond to fault lamps, and message displays, and adjust the machine accordingly.
- Load materials, clear material jams, and make minor machine adjustments.
- Perform light machine maintenance.
- Perform machine and area cleaning as described in work instructions.
- Perform all quality checks and tests as described in work instructions.
- Order materials, verify materials and production specifications, perform quality checks, monitor and respond to KPI data prompts, set up machines for various product styles, and classify finished products through direct interaction with advanced Manufacturing Execution System, Document Management System, and other computer applications as appropriate.
- Perform procedures and work assignments in keeping with Company safety rules and all other policies and procedures.
- Must be able to work any shift
Essential Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
- 2-5 years in a high-speed industrial production environment.
- Three years of operator experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment.
- Work Keys assessment scores: Applied Math 3, Workplace Documents or Reading for Information 3,Graphic Literacy 3.
- Workplace Observation 2 (preferred).
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
BENEFICIAL:
- Industrial Systems Technology – Machine Operator Certificate Or
- Certificate in a related field or military equivalent.
