Job Description
Drive and coordinate the welding qualification and welding execution monitoring on the shop for Steam Turbine and Generator Services/Retrofit Projects to ensure all welding procedure qualification ROC from the customer & all welders are qualified with continuity record according the project requirements and demonstrate appropriate leadership behaviors to guide the team.
- Deep understanding of Nuclear & Services Projects Customer Mindset and able to cascade the requirements within organization.
- Ensure all customer documentation are ready inline with Project Requirement.
- Coach Team on problem solving techniques of welding related problem by RCA/Fish bone,5why etc.
- Establish a system (Welding Procedures) that welding activities in shop are executed as per design code and meeting time delivery in a cost effective manner while maintaining consistent standards of Quality
- Control weld repair in the shop by analyzing the root cause of defect and implementing corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
- Prepare Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and prepare Procedure Qualification Report (PQR) to satisfy AMSE / BS or as per the client requirement.
- Impart Training and Qualification of Welder I Welding Operator to satisfy AMSE / BS / IBR /ENor as per the requirement of the client.
- Assist shop by monitoring performance of Welder I welding operator and arranging training whenever required.
- Assist Engineering Department in the joint wise identification of the WPS & NDE. He should also be able to establish joint wise welder I welding operator traceability.
- Plan and control the Welding consumables in Shop and Store.
- Prepare weld plan , weld map & repair analysis for fabricated components .
- Assist in developing and locating new welding consumable manufacturer to get consumable with reduced cost.
- Development of new welding technique, procedure, joint configuration and for different metallurgical advancement to improve process, to increase utilization and to enhance efficiency.
- Select the PWHT process and cvcle as and when needed for Components
- Active participation in FMEA meetings and ensure all relevant risks are identified and mitigated before execution of process
- Closely work with Process engineer for any improvement on current manufacturing process/new upcoming projects
- Identify training need of the team based on the skill assessment and new project requirement.
Basic Qualifications(requirements):
- Graduate engineer-Metallurgy/Mechanical/Welding
Experience gained on job during professional life:
- At least 10 years in Welding Technical Qualification in NDE is desired..
- Knowledge of Material Science, DT, NDT, Heat Treatment & Chain of Work
- Knowledge of Statutory Regulations and International Quality Codes (ASME, ASTN, ANSI, BS, IS CODES & EN CODES)
- International Welding Certification is desirable(AWS/CSWIP).
