Pay: $36.16/hr. ($31.07/hr. base rate + $5.09 H&W)

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Position Overview: In this role, you will provide secure transportation services for residents while ensuring safety, accountability, and compliance with government detention standards, transportation procedures, and facility security protocols in support of a detention facility. You will transport resident to approved locations including court appearances, medical appointments, transfers, intake facilities, and other operational destinations while maintaining resident supervision and operational security throughout all transport activities. This position requires strong situational awareness, safe driving skills, professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies and security concerns within a secure detention environment.
Responsibilities:
- Safely transport residents to courts, hospitals, detention facilities, intake centers, airports, medical appointments, and other authorized locations while maintaining security and resident accountability at all times.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of transportation vehicles, restraints, communication equipment, safety gear, and operational supplies to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Monitor resident behavior and security conditions during transport activities while responding appropriately to disturbances, emergencies, escape risks, or operational concerns.
- Apply and monitor restraints in accordance with facility procedures, transportation protocols, and approved security requirements during resident movement operations.
- Maintain accurate transportation logs, mileage records, resident movement documentation, vehicle inspection reports, and operational paperwork related to transport activities.
- Conduct searches of residents, transport vehicles, equipment, and operational areas for contraband, prohibited items, or safety concerns in accordance with facility procedures.
- Operate radios, phones, GPS systems, emergency communication equipment, and transportation tracking systems during assigned transport operations.
- Coordinate transportation schedules, routing plans, appointment times, and resident movement activities with detention personnel, healthcare staff, court officials, and outside agencies.
- Respond to vehicle incidents, medical emergencies, operational disruptions, or resident behavioral issues while initiating appropriate emergency response procedures and notifications.
- Ensure all transportation operations comply with government detention standards, vehicle safety regulations, facility security procedures, and company operational policies.
- Maintain accountability of assigned equipment including restraints, keys, radios, firearms (if applicable), emergency gear, and operational transportation resources.
- Maintain professionalism, strong observational skills, effective communication, and sound decision-making while supporting safe and secure resident transportation operations.
Qualifications:
- Must possess an Active Arizona Armed Guard License.
- Must possess a Class A or B CDL with P Endorsement.
- Must possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience as a law enforcement officer, military policeman, or as a security officer engaged in functions related to detaining civil or administrative aliens. A degree in a related or appropriate field/discipline may substitute for experience (i.e., detention, corrections, criminal justice, etc.).
- Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
- If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
- Must consent to fingerprinting.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
- Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
- Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Work Environment:
Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
Physical Requirements:
Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
