Overview:
Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is an award-winning nonprofit, nonsectarian human services organization founded in 1943. Today, it has grown to be the largest provider of licensed outpatient community behavioral health services and one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County. WJCS delivers innovative programs and services and compassionate care to more than 20,000 people of all ages and backgrounds throughout the county.
We are seeking a full-time Bilingual (English/Spanish) Family Support Specialist to join our satellite offices in two Peekskill City schools. In this role, you will provide advocacy for parents and families of children and youth with significant social, emotional and behavioral needs. These families reside in Peekskill and have children in grades K-3.
The salary for this full-time position is $50,000.
Responsibilities:
As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing initial cross-system assessment of service/resource needs.
- Providing care management services that enable families’ access to necessary supports and services on behalf of their children and youth.
- Conducting classroom, school, and community presentations, as well provide psychosocial rehab Children and Family Treatment and Support Services, including Psychosocial Rehab and Family Peer Support services.
- Providing administrative support across our school-based clinics.
Requirements:
We are seeking candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience working with parents/families of children/adolescents required.
- Bilingual Spanish-English proficiency required.
- Current license/license eligibility as a credentialed Family Peer Advocate preferred.
- Ability to work effectively to engage with and support families/parents of children/youth with significant social, emotional or behavioral needs across the full economic spectrum is essential.
- Ability to form strong working professional relationships with school and social service personnel.
- Proficiency in the use of computer and standard office software applications.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
