The function of the Sprinkler System Service Technician Level 2 is to repair, maintain and renovate of all types fire protection systems to include intermediate field coordination, planning, and expediting of service orders and communication of job status to key AFPS staff.

 

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Repair, maintain and renovate all types of fire protection systems
  1. Load and handle equipment as needed
  2. Inspect equipment
  3. Coordinate with monitoring companies, fire departments and other authorities to avoid false alarms and unreported true alarms
  4. Prepare reports
  5. Requisition materials and equipment anticipating future needs
  6. Service systems per manufacturer’s maintenance manual, the law, and the adopted Standards of the National Fire Protection Association
  7. Complete follow-up documentation
  8. Prepare proposals
  9. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with not more than 75% supervision

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. HS Diploma or equivalent
  2. Valid Driver’s License
  3. Ability to be insured on company automobile insurance
  4. Acceptable background check and drug screening
  5. BASA and FASA Certification
  6. 1 year in related fire protection industry OR 3 years’ experience in similar industry

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Basic knowledge of code (NFPA 13,14,20,24,25)
  2. Intermediate knowledge of sprinkler head and hanger spacing, hazard classifications and obstructions
  3. Intermediate knowledge of different types of sprinkler systems such as wet, dry, and antifreeze systems
  4. Ability to read plans, specifications, proposals and technical manufacturer’s data
  5. Capable of installing underground
  6. Basic understanding of standpipe and fire pump systems installations and operation
  7. Complete simple work orders with little supervision
  8. Basic ability to manage personnel in the field
  9. Ability to interact with customers in a professional manner
  10. The ability to communicate in English
