Our teams in GRC work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of control and compliance at American Express to successfully identify, monitor and manage risks.
Role Overview:
The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Risk Oversight function within GRC provides independent oversight by monitoring, reviewing, and challenging risk activities across business units in alignment with enterprise standards and regulatory expectations. This role sits within the ERM team and reports into the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) organization of American Express Banking Corp. (AEBC) India. The incumbent will support oversight across a broad spectrum of risks, including Credit Risk, Operational Risk, Fraud Risk, Reputational Risk, and Third-Party Risk.
- Conducting data driven reviews of credit, operational processes, etc. to identify gaps in processes in particular with respect to our internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Performs validation and analysis to determine, monitor and management of risks related to the business products and processes.
- Support monitoring of risk exposure against the bank’s risk appetite and escalate concerns to governance forums as needed.
- Develop and automate reports/dashboards using Python/SQL to improve monitoring efficiency and transparency
- Contribute to the development, review, and enhancement of AEBC risk policies
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in economics, business, engineering, banking, or a related field.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and drive project deliverables to achieve business results
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently with complex, unstructured initiatives
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work with large datasets and derive meaningful insights
- Understanding of risk management concepts (credit risk, model risk, or operational risk) and any relevant certifications is a plus
- Understanding of Regulatory Compliance /Operational risk management areas.
- Knowledge of MS Office – PowerPoint, Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL for data analysis and automation
