We are currently seeking an Electrical and Automation Engineer to work with us on a Full-time/Permanent basis. As an expert in electrical engineering and automation, you will play a key role in the instrumentation and control of our pharmaceutical and laboratory washers. You will be at the heart of innovation, evaluating, conceptualizing, developing, testing, and documenting customized solutions for our clients, tailored to their needs, while also improving our existing products. What makes this position unique is that you will have a local team to support you, but you will work with a Canadian team located in Quebec; this is truly an opportunity to work in an international environment!
Duties
- Programming and Design: Develop and program software for programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and operator interfaces (HMIs) from Siemens and Allen-Bradley, while supporting our clients in integrating their SCADA systems. You will also work with electromechanical interfaces and high-power components such as heating elements and pumps.
- Electrical Design: Create electrical schematics for control panels that meet client requirements, while ensuring compliance with electrical and machine safety standards in North America and Europe.
- Prototyping and Testing: Conduct simulations and rigorous testing to validate system performance.
- Analysis and Optimization: Assess client needs and the performance of existing systems, propose innovative solutions, and estimate costs and timelines.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical challenges related to our systems.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare operator and maintenance manuals, technical reports, and design quotations.
- Technology Monitoring: Stay up to date with technological advancements and market trends to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers from various disciplines, as well as with our clients, to ensure seamless system integration. You will also collaborate with several internal stakeholders, including procurement, production, and marketing teams.
Required Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, automation, or a related field.
- Experience: 6 to 9 years of relevant experience in the design and implementation of electrical and automation systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial programming languages (Allen-Bradley and Siemens are assets). Knowledge of CAD software and simulation tools (ePlan and AutoCAD are assets). Familiarity with electrical standards and safety regulations (UL, CSA, CE) is an asset.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work in a team to solve complex problems. Effective communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Strong client communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Languages: Excellent proficiency in English. French is an asset
