Job Description
As a Live-In Carer with Home Instead, you will play a crucial role in supporting clients to live independently and comfortably in their own homes. You will provide personalized care tailored to each individual’s needs, promoting their well-being, dignity, and quality of life. This role is ideal for compassionate, patient, and dedicated individuals who are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Assist with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring that clients maintain their personal hygiene and dignity
- Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications and support clients in following their medication schedules
- Companionship: Provide emotional support and companionship, engaging clients in conversation and activities that enrich their daily lives
- Meal Preparation: Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals that cater to the client’s dietary requirements and preferences
- Household Tasks: Assist with light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe and comfortable living environment
- Mobility Support: Aid clients with mobility, including the use of mobility aids and assistance with transfers from bed to chair
- Care Planning: Work closely with healthcare professionals, care managers, and family members to develop and implement personalized care plans
- Monitoring and Reporting: Observe and monitor the client’s health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the care manager or relevant healthcare professional
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergencies, providing first aid and contacting the appropriate emergency services if necessary
- Experience: Previous experience in a live in caregiving or healthcare role is preferred but not essential, training will be provided.
- Compassionate Nature: A caring and empathetic approach with a genuine desire to improve the lives of others.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Patience and Understanding: Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations, providing reassurance and support to clients.
- Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to the changing needs of clients and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Driving License: A valid driving license is desirable but not essential
