The Role
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring & Alert Management
- Monitor SAP systems using SAP monitoring and observability tools.
- Analyze and respond to infrastructure, database, application, and interface alerts.
- Perform proactive health checks and identify potential risks before service impact.
- Review system performance trends and recommend preventive actions.
- Manage daily operational dashboards and service queues.
- Incident Management
- Handle L1/L2 Basis incidents according to SLA commitments.
- Perform initial diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution of SAP system issues.
- Coordinate with SAP RISE operations teams, hyperscaler teams, and customer stakeholders during critical incidents.
- Escalate complex issues to L3 support and SAP support when required.
- Ensure proper documentation of incident analysis and resolution activities.
- Outage & Major Incident Support
- Participate in major incident and outage bridges.
- Support restoration activities during planned and unplanned outages.
- Perform impact analysis and root cause identification.
- Coordinate communication among technical teams during service disruptions.
- Contribute to post-incident reviews and corrective action plans.
- SAP Basis Administration
- Monitor SAP application servers, databases, and interfaces.
- Manage user lock situations, spool issues, background job failures, and transport-related operational activities.
- Support kernel updates, parameter reviews, and system maintenance activities.
- Assist in system refreshes, client copies, and technical operations as required.
- Monitor HANA database health and performance indicators.
- Change & Release Support
- Support implementation of approved changes within maintenance windows.
- Validate system readiness before and after deployments.
- Coordinate transport movement activities across landscapes.
- Participate in change advisory and operational review meetings.
- Service Management
- Work within ITIL-based service management processes.
- Maintain accurate ticket updates and operational documentation.
- Ensure compliance with SLA, OLA, and customer-specific operational requirements.
- Prepare operational reports and service review inputs.
Who You Are
SAP Technical Skills
- SAP Basis Administration (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, Solution Manager).
- SAP HANA administration and monitoring.
- SAP system startup/shutdown procedures.
- Transport Management System (TMS).
- Background job and spool administration.
- SAP performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Experience with SAP Cloud ALM and SAP Focused Run is desirable.
- RISE with SAP Knowledge
- Understanding of RISE with SAP operating model.
- Familiarity with SAP-managed cloud environments.
- Knowledge of SAP support boundaries and customer responsibilities in RISE landscapes.
- Experience working with hyperscalers such as:
- Amazon Web Services
- Microsoft Azure
- Google Cloud
ITSM & Operations
- Incident Management.
- Problem Management.
- Change Management.
- Major Incident Handling.
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- SLA-driven support operations.
- Experience
- 3–8 years of SAP Basis administration experience.
- Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA environments.
- Experience in 24x7 production support environments.
- Exposure to RISE with SAP operations is preferred.
- Experience working with managed service providers or AMS/MSM engagements.
- Preferred Certifications
- SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP System Administration.
- SAP HANA Administration certification.
- ITIL Foundation Certification.
