The Role

Key Responsibilities

SAP RISE ECS Infrastructure Operations

  • Manage and support SAP systems hosted on SAP RISE ECS platforms.
  • Coordinate with SAP ECS operations teams for infrastructure-related activities.
  • Monitor server health, system performance, and resource utilization.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and security of SAP production and non-production environments.
  • Participate in SAP landscape maintenance activities and scheduled downtime events.

Server Administration

  • Administer Linux and Windows servers supporting SAP applications.
  • Perform OS-level troubleshooting, patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Manage file systems, storage allocations, and server performance tuning.
  • Monitor CPU, memory, disk, and network utilization.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Handle L1/L2/L3 infrastructure incidents as per SLA commitments.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues.
  • Coordinate with SAP ECS, cloud providers, and customer teams during critical incidents.
  • Drive incident resolution and service restoration activities.

Monitoring & Automation

  • Utilize monitoring tools for proactive infrastructure monitoring.
  • Configure alerts and thresholds for critical SAP systems.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell, Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Generate operational reports and dashboards.

Backup, Recovery & DR Support

  • Support backup and restore operations.
  • Participate in disaster recovery testing and execution.
  • Validate backup success and recovery readiness.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement OS hardening and security best practices.
  • Support vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational and customer security standards.
  • Coordinate periodic audits and compliance checks.

Change & Release Management

  • Execute infrastructure changes following ITIL processes.
  • Participate in maintenance windows and planned upgrades.
  • Support SAP kernel, OS, and infrastructure upgrade activities.
  • Maintain change documentation and implementation records.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with SAP Basis teams, SAP ECS teams, cloud providers, and customer stakeholders.
  • Participate in operational review meetings.
  • Provide technical updates and status reports.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in server administration and infrastructure operations.
  • Hands-on experience supporting SAP landscapes in SAP RISE ECS environments.
  • Experience working with Managed Service Providers (MSP/MSM) supporting enterprise SAP customers.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, infrastructure, and SAP-hosted environments.
  • Experience in 24x7 support operations and on-call rotations.

Preferred Certifications

  • SAP Technology Associate Certifications
  • Linux Administration Certifications (RHCSA/RHCE)
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Cloud Certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work in global support environments.
  • Customer-focused approach with adherence to SLAs and operational excellence.
