What you will be doing:
We are seeking an EDI Architect with deep expertise in Boomi, responsible for defining integration architecture and actively developing enterprise EDI solutions.

This role combines architecture leadership with hands-on implementation, where the individual will design scalable integration frameworks while directly contributing to the development, deployment, and optimization of EDI solutions.

The EDI Architect will establish reusable design patterns, onboarding frameworks, and integration standards, and will also build and deploy key integrations in Boomi to set the foundation for future scalability.

This role is critical to our EDI transformation, including the migration from legacy platforms (e.g., Gentran) to Boomi, where the architect will play a direct role in implementation, testing, and delivery of integrations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Provide architectural leadership and mentor developers while actively reviewing and contributing to integration development, mappings, and deployments to ensure adherence to standards.

  • EDI Strategy: Define Boomi-based integration architecture, standards, and governance, and translate these into working solutions by developing reusable frameworks, templates, and core integration components.

  • EDI Integration: Design and develop EDI integrations in Boomi, including:

    • Building and deploying integration processes

    • Developing and optimizing EDI maps (X12, EDIFACT)

    • Configuring communication protocols (AS2, SFTP, APIs)

    • Creating reusable components to accelerate partner onboarding

Act as a lead contributor in implementation, especially for complex or high-priority integrations.

  • EDI Modernization: Lead migration from legacy EDI platforms by designing the target architecture and executing critical parts of the redevelopment, including conversion of existing maps and integrations into Boomi.

  • EDI Backlog Management: Partner with business and IT teams to prioritize initiatives and ensure delivery through a combination of architectural guidance and direct contribution to implementation efforts.

  • Data Security and Compliance: Design and implement secure integration solutions, ensuring data protection, compliance, and auditability are embedded within developed integrations.

  • Process Optimization: Define and implement standardized onboarding frameworks, reusable templates, and integration patterns, and build the core assets required to enable faster future implementations.

  • Reporting and analytics: Design and implement monitoring, logging, and reporting frameworks in Boomi to provide visibility into integration performance and transaction health.

  • Troubleshooting: Lead complex issue resolution and actively participate in debugging and optimizing integrations, including root cause analysis and implementation of fixes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in EDI.

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing integrations using Boomi or similar iPaaS platforms, including hands-on implementation in production environments.

  • Experience leading end-to-end integration delivery, including design, development, testing, and deployment.

  • Technical Proficiency:

    • Strong understanding of EDI standards (EDIFACT, X12) and protocols (AS2, FTP).

    • Deep expertise in:

      • Boomi architecture and development

      • Integration design patterns and reusable frameworks

      • EDI mapping, transformation, and validation

    • Hands-on experience with:

      • Building and deploying integrations

      • Debugging and optimizing integration processes

      • Implementing logging, monitoring, and error handling

    • Experience with legacy EDI platforms (Gentran, Cleo, SPS, B2Bi), including migration and redevelopment of integrations.

    • Knowledge of data formats (XML, JSON) and scripting for advanced transformations.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strong architectural thinking combined with a practical, hands-on approach to solution delivery.

    • Ability to balance strategic design with execution responsibility.

    • Excellent collaboration skills across business and technical teams.

    • Strong ownership mindset with accountability for delivery of working solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with EDI integrations in Oracle ERP environments.

  • Experience in large-scale EDI platform modernization with hands-on involvement in implementation.

  • Knowledge of global trade compliance regulations.

  • Boomi certification or equivalent integration certifications.
