Team Summary
The Legal team manages Visa’s legal affairs across the Asia Pacific region, providing strategic advice and services to support business objectives while safeguarding Visa’s brand and minimizing legal and regulatory risks. Our team is proactive, collaborative, and dedicated to upholding the highest standards of integrity and compliance.
What a Senior Legal Assistant does at Visa:
The Senior Legal Assistant (SLA) formally reports to the Senior Vice President, Chief Counsel, Asia Pacific (AP). This role provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Chief Counsel and the AP Legal team. This role is pivotal in driving legal operations initiatives, enhancing team engagement, and leveraging technology to optimize processes and foster a collaborative legal community.
Financial and Vendor Management
Support Chief Counsel and key stakeholders on budget tracking, management and financial reporting for the AP Legal team
Assist with governance activities, including internal audits on internal processes to ensure process relevance and integrity
Manage external counsel and vendor engagements, including vendor onboarding and professional fees management
Ensure accuracy in documentation, budgeting and compliance processes. Working closely with the lawyers to obtain responses to various information, reporting (e.g. the monthly report), and other regular or ad-hoc requests
Knowledge and Records Management
Establish and maintain legal information databases, new workflows, processes, and record storage applications for the team to ensure proper knowledge management and compliance with internal policies (e.g., share points, contract repository, disclosures, etc.)
Ensure proper record and information retention – e.g., external counsel contacts list, legal intermediaries list, records index, etc.
Support process documentation and identify opportunities for automation and optimization
Global Legal Operations Initiatives
Assist in implementing global legal operations programs and tools to enhance efficiency and standardization
Monitor adoption and provide feedback for continuous improvement
AI & Innovation
Help coordinate and drive Legal team initiatives related to AI tools, automation, legal technology and operational transformation
Support the evaluation and adoption of AI-enabled tools and legal technology solutions
Assist with strategy-related work by organizing inputs, preparing summaries, supporting analysis and tracking execution of key initiatives
Develop and maintain playbooks, workflow documentation and adoption resources for new tools and processes
Track adoption metrics, user feedback, risks, outcomes and opportunities for improvement across AI and legal operations projects
Operational Support
Coordinate document execution and notarization, acting as liaison between business and external counsels
Support the planning and execution of training opportunities and regional events
Support the team with formatting and editing of presentation materials, charts, letters and documents as needed
Assist with the collation of responses or feedback from all AP lawyers, analysis, formatting, and inputting data into relevant internal systems (e.g., GORO). Ensure diligent follow-through with respective stakeholders and timely delivery of actions
Provide general administrative/document and other support as and when required

Qualifications
What you will need:
We are looking for an experienced individual with a curiosity about payments and Fintech, who is results-driven, and client-focused. As a candidate, you should have:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification
3-5 years of experience in legal operations, compliance, or vendor management
Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Proficiency in MS Office, familiarity with SharePoint and legal technology platforms is a plus
Interest or experience in AI-driven solutions for process improvement is highly desirable
Be comfortable with ambiguity and multi-tasking, ability to deliver under high pressure/ tight timelines or changing priorities
Ability to work independently with little to no supervision and as part of a team in a dynamic global environment
Ability to exercise discretion and tact in handling sensitive and confidential information
What will also help:
• Experience in business planning/operations across diverse markets/functions within a complex matrix organization
• Prior experience in a similar role within in a large law firm or multinational corporation
