Job Summary: The Qualified Electrical Technician (QET) supports Electrical Engineering activities such as testing, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of miscellaneous electrical systems
The technician performs zero-volt verifications and panel inspections to ensure critical safety functions
This role requires experience in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems within a high-volume manufacturing environment
The individual works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to conduct testing, checkout, and troubleshooting activities
Essential Duties: Functional Operations: Perform QET (Qualified Electrical Technician) and electrical preventive maintenance to support 24/7 plant operations Provide QET support to the plant, including breaker resets, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) confirmation, Zero Vault Verification (ZVV) checks—which include LOTO—and planned system or line shutdown support Perform regularly scheduled electrical system maintenance Operate and maintain tools and equipment in assigned areas Capable of working all scheduled shifts Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Identify and correct grounding and bonding issues, improve cable management and routing, and ensure all electrical connections and terminations are secure and properly tightened Clean and maintain control panels and junction boxes, and verify that positive-pressure clean, dry air systems are installed in enclosures Training & Team Support: Provide support to the plant with expertise in high-power troubleshooting and modifications, grounding and bonding work, and conduit installation and routing Assist with cable and wire pulls to ensure proper electrical system installation and maintenance Ability to train others at same or lower level Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication: Support implementation of industry-standard compliant processes and procedures Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams during planned system/line shutdowns and troubleshooting activities to ensure minimal disruption to production Quality, Safety, & Compliance: Ensure all electrical work complies with plant safety standards, QET requirements, and company policies, including proper LOTO, ZVV, and grounding/bonding practices Follow all safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and 6S workplace organization standards to maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work area Support audits and inspections by ensuring documentation accuracy, tool readiness, and procedural compliance Supervisory Responsibilities: None Travel Requirement: None Education, Certifications, and Licenses: Required: High school diploma, GED, or 2 years of prior experience in functional area Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Technology) Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent certification Lean Six Sigma Black Belt PECNA approved Technical Training Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) Certification Essential Qualifications: 5+ years of electrical technician experience performing maintenance and electrical troubleshooting in a manufacturing or industrial environment Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical control systems up to 480 VAC Strong understanding of electrical hardware, schematics, wiring diagrams, and SOPs Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain industrial control systems and related mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components Knowledge of industrial machinery design and safety regulations, including NEC and NFPA 70E (must pass NFPA 70E exam and obtain CEST certification) Ability to work 12-hour day or night shifts in support of 24/7 battery manufacturing operations (QET and Electrical PM support) Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments, including overseas teams Strong documentation skills Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English Alignment to Panasonic’s seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude) Preferred Qualifications: 10+ years of electrical technician experience performing maintenance and electrical troubleshooting Familiarity with wiring, cabling, grounding, shielding, terminations, and load/temperature requirements Knowledge of ISA (International Society of Automation) standards and symbology Experience working in hazardous locations (e.g., Class I, Division 2) Experience with 480 VAC panel installation Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements: To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is required and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator
A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area
