Location & Schedule
In this position, you can expect to report to the Denver Wastewater Building at 2000 W. 3rd Ave., Denver, CO 80221, and work in the field throughout the City and County of Denver. The schedule will be Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

Wastewater Management oversees all aspects of wastewater functions, including the construction, operation, and maintenance of the City’s sanitary and storm systems, as well as administrative functions such as implementing policies, establishing cost controls and setting fees to maintain a revenue base sufficient to support operational requirements and capital improvements program, and responding to customer inquiries regarding sewage and storm drainage service charges.
The Wastewater Management Division at DOTI is seeking Utility Worker II’s to join our team and support essential city services.
Specifically as a Utility Worker II you will:
Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects on new and existing sanitary and storm structures.
Assist equipment operators with pre and post trip inspections
Work in and around traffic
Assist with sanitary jetting which includes lifting and pulling open manholes (100-120lbs). And entering manholes with proper training
Assist with Vac Trucks which includes pulling grates (~220lbs) from inlets and removing debris.
Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirement
Participate in the snow removal
What You’ll Bring
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
CDL Permit or CDL B, preferred but not required
Safety minded
Knowledge of operating equipment and the use of small to medium hand tools.
Willingness to work in inclement weather, road environments, dust, fumes, etc.
Desire to follow a career path and promote to other positions within the department, such as Equipment Operator I, Equipment Operator II, etc. (We provide on the job training!)
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: None
Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience performing unskilled labor work.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
Applicants for commercial driving positions must demonstrate proficiency in the English language. Commercial drivers must be able to do the following in English:
Converse with the general public
Understand highway traffic signs and signals
Respond to official inquiries
Make entries on reports and records
