Position Overview
The Homeroom Teacher is responsible for creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional development of primary-aged students. The teacher delivers high-quality instruction aligned with the school's curriculum, promotes student wellbeing, and works collaboratively with colleagues and families to ensure each child reaches their full potential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging learning experiences that support students’ academic, social, and emotional development and are aligned with the school’s curriculum.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes student wellbeing, engagement, and achievement.
- Differentiate teaching and learning strategies to meet the diverse needs, abilities, and interests of all students.
- Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, maintaining accurate records and using data to inform teaching and learning.
- Establish high expectations for behaviour and learning, fostering a culture of respect, responsibility, and collaboration.
- Build strong partnerships with parents and guardians through regular and effective communication regarding student progress and wellbeing.
- Collaborate with colleagues, specialist teachers, and support staff to enhance student outcomes and contribute to curriculum development and school initiatives.
- Actively participate in the wider life of the school, including professional development, meetings, events, safeguarding responsibilities, and other duties as required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Bachelor's degree in Education (or related field) and a recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience teaching in a Primary School setting.
- Strong understanding of effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
- Ability to create an inclusive, engaging, and student-centred learning environment.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
- Collaborative, proactive, and committed to student wellbeing and safeguarding.
- Fluency in English; Portuguese is an advantage.
