Production Underwriter
Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Underwriter (Commercial Lines) works with Producers to maintain synergy between NAMU, the carriers and the clients. Working under moderate supervision, contributes to the growth and profitability of assigned specialty product line(s) through marketing, underwriting and managing of products and services of moderate risks. The Underwriter provides the highest quality of professional service to every customer. This includes answering questions, providing professional information and enhancing existing policies. Some risks may require special handling or unusual coverage.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares/presents new business and renewal quotations
Collaborates with Producers to develop business strategies and best practices
Maintains knowledge of various authority limits provided by all carriers
Assists with escalated or complex claims processing issues, policy changes, questions, etc.
Assist in developing, enhancing and maintaining underwriting methods and techniques
Process new business, endorsements, renewals
Assist management in the development of new products and applications, as needed
Prepare monthly reports for management reflecting quoted, bound and non renewed accounts
Process all assigned work accurately and within guidelines
Other related responsibilities, as needed
FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:
Minimum 3 years commercial lines and/or marine underwriting experience
Must obtain and maintain insurance license
Demonstrated oral and written communications skills.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision making skills
The ability to work in a team environment
Must be detailed oriented, well organized and have the ability to manage a high volume workload with competing demands
Demonstrated computer proficiency – Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, etc.
SALARY TRANSPARENCY:
The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level.
