About the role
We are seeking a highly capable Briefing & Correspondence Lead to drive and coordinate the development, review and submission of high-level communications on behalf of the Department’s Finance directorate.
This role sits at the centre of executive communication, ensuring briefings, correspondence and submissions are clear, accurate, and aligned with Departmental priorities. You will work closely with senior leaders, including the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Financial Officer, providing strategic advice and managing the flow of critical information to support informed decision-making.

About you
You are an experienced communicator with a strong ability to translate complex information into clear, concise and impactful messaging.
You bring:
- Proven experience preparing high-level briefings and correspondence for senior executives or government stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight timeframes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
- Sound judgement, discretion and the ability to handle sensitive or contentious matters.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate issues and provide strategic advice.
Your ability to build relationships, navigate complexity, and deliver high-quality timely communications will be critical to success in this role.
Key knowledge and experience
- Significant experience leading the development of government briefings, correspondence and other key communications.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Essential requirements of the role
- Qualifications in a relevant discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
