
ESL Teacher - Anticipated
Job Description
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of principal, the 6th Grade ESL Teacher will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a middle school learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Successful teaching experience in a diverse setting is a plus.Education, Experience and Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Professional Educator Licensure from the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Appropriate endorsement for position.
- Previous teaching experience with elementary school-aged children preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.
Terms of Employment:
- 180 day/10 month position.
- Evaluation conducted in accordance with the evaluation plan, the Illinois School Code and applicable regulations of the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Salary and increase set by Professional Negotiation Contract.
Working Conditions:
- In person and on site in a school/classroom environment.
- Close contact with school age children.
