Responsibilities

The Network Communications Engineer 1 is responsible for foundational monitoring, basic troubleshooting, routine maintenance, documentation, and first-line support of Community Medical Center’s LAN/WAN/MAN/WLAN environment. Working under the guidance of the Network Team Leader and senior engineers, the incumbent handles day-to-day operational tasks, responds to service requests, escalates complex issues, and supports the reliability of network services critical to clinical care and hospital operations. This entry-to-junior-level role emphasizes learning, adherence to established procedures, and contribution to team goals while building expertise in healthcare networking.
 
 

Qualifications

Education
o Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field required
o Bachelor’s Degree preferred
o Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
 
Experience
o 3 years of IT support, help desk, network administration, or related role required
o Hands-on experience with network hardware, basic configuration, or troubleshooting required 
o Prior work in healthcare, hospital, or high-availability environments preferred
o Exposure to clinical systems, medical device connectivity, or VoIP preferred
 
Licenses and Certifications
o CompTIA Network+ preferred
o Cisco CCNA (or equivalent vendor certification) preferred
o ITIL Foundation (desirable for service management) preferred
