Job: GMEC-Golf Mechanic Manager - Golf Recurring (Fleet)

As a Golf Mechanic Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and reliability of the company’s fleet of vehicles, trailers, and landscaping equipment. This role leads the maintenance shop and mechanics to ensure equipment is safe, operational, and available to support daily field operations. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technical leader with strong organizational skills, a safety‑focused mindset, and experience managing maintenance teams in a fast‑paced, field‑service environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage and lead the daily operations of the maintenance shop, including mechanics and technicians
Plan and oversee preventive maintenance programs for vehicles, trailers, and landscaping equipment
Diagnose mechanical issues and ensure timely, cost‑effective repairs
Schedule work orders, prioritize repairs, and minimize equipment downtime
Maintain accurate maintenance records, parts inventory, and service documentation
Manage vendor relationships for outsourced repairs, warranties, and parts procurement
Enforce safety procedures, compliance standards, and shop best practices
Collaborate with fleet, operations, and production teams to align maintenance with operational needs
Assist with budgeting, cost controls, and capital planning related to equipment maintenance and replacement
Participate in hiring, training, and performance management of maintenance staff
Manage repairs within a budget created by superintendent,
Train golf equipment operators
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical failures on all types of equipment
Regulate employees' safe use of equipment in absence of the superintendent and assistant superintendent
Follows safety procedures as a top priority, reports any issues to Superintendent, Regional Superintendent and Director of Safety
Performing other tasks as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training preferred
5+ years of experience as a mechanic, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
Strong knowledge of small engines, landscaping equipment, trailers, and light‑ to medium‑duty trucks
Proven ability to lead teams and manage shop workflows efficiently
Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Valid Driver’s License and the ability to pass an MVR check
Preferred Skills & Experience
Diesel engine and heavy equipment experience is highly desirable
Experience working in a commercial landscaping, construction, or field‑services company
Familiarity with fleet management or maintenance tracking software
Knowledge of DOT compliance, safety inspections, and preventive maintenance programs
Budgeting and inventory management experience
Ability to work collaboratively with operations and production leadership
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Valid CDL license is a plus!
