Brown & Brown, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Legal Intern – Technology & Intellectual Property to support the Legal Department.

This role is designed to provide undergraduate or graduate students with hands-on experience in an in-house legal environment, with a focus on technology-related legal matters and intellectual property.

The intern will contribute to meaningful legal projects while working closely with experienced attorneys and legal professionals. This position offers exposure to real-world legal issues involving technology, innovation, data, and intellectual property within a publicly traded company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research related to intellectual property, technology law, data privacy, and regulatory compliance, and prepare clear summaries of findings.

  • Assist attorneys with technology and intellectual property matters, including contracts, IP documentation, policies, and internal legal processes.

  • Draft, review, and edit legal and business documents such as memoranda, templates, policies, correspondence, and presentations.

  • Support project and matter management, including organizing files, tracking deadlines, and maintaining documentation.

  • Collaborate with legal team members and cross-functional business partners to support ongoing initiatives.

  • Participate in meetings and communicate professionally with attorneys and stakeholders.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive legal and business information.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail by ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality in all work products.

  • Take initiative on assignments, manage competing priorities, and adapt to shifting deadlines and business needs.

Education, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Pre-Law, Legal Studies, Philosophy, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; junior or senior standing preferred.

  • Strong interest in Technology Law, Intellectual Property, data privacy, or innovation-related legal issues.

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team.

  • Professional demeanor with a demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.

Pay Range

$20.00 - $20.00 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
