An opportunity has arisen within the Corporate Finance service team for an Assistant Accountant (Tax). This is a diverse and interesting role involving a variety of technical VAT tasks and responsibilities including but not limited to: preparation of monthly VAT returns; assistance with reconciliations between VAT ledger accounts and HMRC reclaim totals; responding to basic VAT coding or treatment queries from finance and operational teams; support with the preparation of schedules and evidence for internal and external audits, including HMRC information requests; supporting with updates of VAT policy documents and procedure notes; and supporting with daily cashflow management.

Skills

Knowledge
- Basic knowledge and understanding of accounting standards.
- Basic knowledge and understanding closing annual accounts.
- Basic knowledge and understanding setting and preparing budgets.
- Basic knowledge and understanding book keeping of financial records.
- Basic knowledge and understanding costing, cashflow management and forecasting.
Experience & Qualifications
- AAT Technician (fully qualified member at level 3).
- Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD) .
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
- Experience of working within a financial/accountancy environment.
- Experience of working with information technology-based systems and PC based software.
