Audience and subscriber growth are core elements of our strategy as we continue to provide trusted, local journalism. To support this, we are looking for a talented and driven Insights Analyst to help guide digital subscription growth. 

You will play a crucial role in monitoring and tracking key performance metrics, generating reports, and providing insights to help improve business performance. You will collaborate with various departments, including Product, Marketing, UX, and Newsroom Capabilities, to track key performance indicators and provide insights to aid business decisions. Your responsibilities will include analysing data, identifying trends, and making recommendations to enhance customer engagement, acquisition and retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will collaborate with the reader revenue team to track key performance indicators, including building required reports and visualisations.
  • You will proactively identify trends in metrics and deep dive into areas of concern/opportunity.
  • You will conduct analyses of subscriber churn trends across various cohorts, focusing on opportunities to increase lifetime value.
  • You will work closely with our marketing team to champion campaign effectiveness, including valuable A/B tests to enhance performance.
  • You will work with the wider analytics team to help develop our customer journey mapping and conversion attribution. Analyse and connect various customer touchpoints to guide effective strategies for conversion and retention.
  • You will assist the head of newsletters with monitoring and tracking key performance metrics, generating reports to provide insights for product and editorial changes, and identifying opportunities for new newsletter products.
  • You will help analyse app user data, lifetime value of in-app subscribers, churn levels and conversion rates to identify trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  • You will communicate the results of analysis to stakeholders, highlighting issues and making recommendations. 
  • You will work with internal teams to maintain the accuracy and integrity of data sources. Monitor, identify, and correct issues in regular reporting.
  • You will respond to any ad-hoc data requests, add value where possible and ensure that items are completed in line with business priorities.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • The ideal candidate will have some proven experience as a marketing data analyst in an eComm or online subscription-based business, ideally within media or publishing.
  • Expert knowledge and skills in using Power BI, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant business intelligence tools.
  • Strong knowledge of key analytical tools & languages (SQL, Adobe, Google, Data Studio, Python)
  • Proven analysis and insight experience using relevant tools and methods to source and analyse data from multiple sources.
  • Highly proficient in interpreting data, extrapolating trends, and translating metrics into actionable recommendations.
  • Proven ability to design and build performance reports to meet business needs.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deliver reliable analysis and reports to deadline.
  • The skills to communicate effectively to all key stakeholders clearly, confidently and concisely.
  • A proactive approach and a curious mindset.
