We are seeking two Controls Technicians for our First Quality Tissue facility located in Anderson SC. This position will be responsible for applying specialized skills in maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting Self-Guided Vehicle systems (SGV) to function on a daily basis. Responsible for maintaining controls components and systems for production and associated utility equipment to ensure high reliability and safe operation. Coordinates electrical Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs and makes complex changes in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programs and Human Machine Interface (HMI) program.
The hours are Monday through Friday 6:30am - 2:30pm
Primary responsibilities include:
Observe all safety rules and use the proper safety equipment at all times.
Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and malfunctions utilizing working knowledge of programs and tools required to troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs including electrical schematics, meters, oscilloscopes, mechanical diagrams, flow charts, wiring diagrams, blueprints, etc.
Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and calibrate all electrical sensing devices (photoelectric, inductive, capacitive, magnetic, temperature, weight, and position sensors) and all electrical control devices (DC drives, contactors, motors, breakers, solenoids power supplies, and indicator lights).
Make complex program modifications in PLC logic and HMI programs to improve equipment performance.
Make critical decisions to proactively avoid safety problems, quality, scrap, and downtime.
Repair all machinery, equipment, and components as required.
Conduct preventative maintenance checks and inspections of assigned equipment.
Develop and execute equipment routes.
Analyze readings and trend equipment data.
Make recommendations for continuous improvement to the overall health of the equipment.
Perform root cause failure analysis and determine cause of failure.
Write work orders for pieces of equipment in need of repair.
Operate all machinery and equipment so that repairs can be tested when complete.
Operate hand and power tools so that all necessary repairs can be made in a timely fashion.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Share knowledge and techniques with team members and assist with training.
Operate powered industrial trucks.
Follow necessary Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and International Standards Organization (ISO) regulations/guidelines.
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and requests, same of teammates.
Perform other duties as necessary when directed to do so.
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or related field required.
Minimum of two years’ technical experience is preferred.
Experience with operating/managing Self-Guided Vehicles preferred.
Advanced knowledge of troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and adjusting equipment.
Advanced Preventative Maintenance Skills: lubricates, aligns, and adjusts.
Standard knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
Standard knowledge of product specifications, quality specifications, goals, efficiency, scrap, and production.
Ability to use Personal Computer (PC) software for time management, correspondence, and reporting.
Excellent multiple trade skills.
Good communication skills.
Good analytical skills.
Ability to run the equipment.
Ability to operate an overhead crane.
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to:
Lift up to 35 pounds.
Stand for long periods of time &/or walk long distances.
Climb & balance.
Bend, stoop, stretch, crouch or crawl.
Operate forklifts in tight spaces and frequently get up and down off of the forklift.
Sitting and/or driving a vehicle for long periods of time.
Type and read small print on screen and blueprints/schematics.
The employee is required to sit inside the cab of several kinds of powered industrial vehicles such as forklifts, cranes, etc.
