Join our team as a Gas Operations Representative I and take on a rewarding role supporting gas distribution operations, equipment maintenance, and customer service that helps keep homes and businesses running every day.

We are hiring six successful candidates for this position.

What you will do:

  • Respond to emergency situations, including gas leaks, fires, evacuations, asphyxiation incidents, and damaged gas lines, ensuring a prompt and effective response.

  • Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of gas distribution systems, including pipeline construction, plastic pipe fusion, meter work, and service line activities.

  • Perform customer service functions such as gas turn-ons/turn-offs, appliance servicing and adjustments, high-bill investigations, service agreements, and payment collection.

  • Maintain accurate system records, complete required documentation, process service orders, Blue Stake requests, and contractor verification records.

  • Safely operate a variety of field equipment and vehicles while meeting applicable licensing, qualification, medical clearance, and operator certification requirements.

  • Provide training and knowledge transfer to Gas Operations employees as needed, supporting safe and effective field operations.

  • Participate in on-call rotations, overtime, shift work, weekends, and holiday coverage to support reliable system operations and emergency response.

Who you are:

You have:
  • A High School diploma/GED.

  • Used and operated maintenance construction equipment such as welders, grinders, drills, tampers, pavement breakers and hand tools.

  • A valid driver’s license that will be verified upon hire.

You can:
  • Use dispatching equipment such as radios, telephones and computer terminals while being able to read and interpret distribution maps.

You are:
  • An excellent written and verbal communicator with legible handwriting who can understand and complete written and oral instructions.

  • Knowledgeable of city, county, state and federal codes, laws, company standard practices and safety procedures relating to gas installation and usage in addition to having a solid understanding of construction procedures and techniques.

  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision and handle emergencies/respond to stressful situations.

Working Conditions:

  • Work performed in the field being exposed to heat/cold/loud noise/confined spaces/radiation majority of the time with 25% travel along with in office work.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 100 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement in addition to being able to smell to detect burning materials, natural gas, hazardous substances such as ammonia and solvents and toxic substances found in hazardous wastes.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
