Job Description:

We're looking for an experienced Quality Assurance and Food Safety Lead to join our Convenience Trading team on a permanent part-time basis (3 days per week).

This is a varied role combining food safety, quality assurance and technical product support across our convenience food business. You'll work closely with Category Managers, Product Developer, Store Operations, HSSE and suppliers to ensure our products are safe, compliant and consistently meet quality standards.

Depending on business requirements, you'll work independently or collaboratively with another technical specialist to provide seamless support across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and continuously improve the Food Safety Management System across the Convenience business, ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements.

  • Provide technical leadership on food safety, quality and regulatory matters, including HACCP, FSANZ requirements, product recalls and incident management.

  • Manage supplier quality programs, including supplier approval, audits, corrective actions and ongoing performance monitoring.

  • Support new product development by reviewing product specifications, ingredient declarations, nutritional information and food labelling to ensure compliance.

  • Partner with Category Managers, Product Developers, Operations and suppliers to deliver safe, high-quality products and successful product launches.

  • Investigate customer complaints, food safety incidents and product quality issues, identifying trends and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor changes in food legislation and industry standards, ensuring business practices remain current and compliant.

  • Support store operations by providing practical food safety guidance, reviewing audit outcomes and simplifying technical requirements for frontline teams.

  • Maintain technical documentation, compliance records and reporting, while contributing to broader technical projects and business priorities as required.

  • Work collaboratively across the technical team to ensure continuity of food safety, quality and product development activities.

Qualification

  • A qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.

  • Experience in food safety, quality or technical roles within food manufacturing, FMCG or retail.

  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation and FSANZ requirements.

  • Experience with supplier quality, product specifications and food labelling.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.

  • A current driver's license.
