Maintenance Supervisor (Crane)

Job Description

Overview

Supervises and coordinates activities of overhead crane operators engaged in unloading steel, machinery, timbers, and other heavy cargo from trucks at construction site or yard of industrial establishments.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
• Establishes policies for inspection, maintenance, and repair of cranes.
• Authorizes and arranges for purchasing supplies, tools, and machinery.
• Consults with officials of operating and servicing divisions on crane replacement needs.
• May investigate and evaluate cause and extent of damage to cranes or materials involved in accidents.
• Develops an effective plan for the maintenance, security, and safekeeping of materials and equipment during the testing and maintenance of the loading, delivering, and unloading of all WHE.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance inspections on assigned vehicles and ensures vehicles meet all US Government safety requirements for operation.
• Maintains a vehicle log in accordance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Ensures appropriate safety procedures when transporting equipment is followed.
• Responsible for inspecting the condition of the work site prior to setting up the crane.
• Responsible for training all personnel involved in WHE operation of proper maintenance procedure.
• Reports vehicle defects, malfunctions, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles immediately to the WHE supervisor or Transportation Operations Manager.
• Control cranes, lifts and other equipment using standard operating procedures to ensure effective transportation of materials and safety for all personnel on site.
• Ensure proper record keeping.
• Ensure tools, equipment, PPE, Vehicles, etc. are upkept to the safety standards.
• Updating work orders, requesting material and inputting work orders.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned
• May be required to work weekends, holidays, early and late shifts.


Qualifications

 

Qualifications:
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalate
• Must be able to successful obtain all required certifications per the Performance Work Statement within 180 days upon arrival at NSGB
Experience:
• 3-5 years of experience in crane operations or maintenance with leadership experience preferred.
• Experience in inspection, maintenance and repairs of cranes.
• Investigating and evaluating cause when accidents occur
• Maintaining logs and proper operation requirements for crane operators
Skills:
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Must speck, read and write English, including providing and receiving direction in English.
Work Environment:
• Construction site, marine projects and/or industrial facilities.
• Exposure to environmental changes such as extreme heat and humidity
• PPE is required in designated areas and around equipment.
