Job Description

At AGC Biologics, you will help bring life-saving biologics to patients worldwide - by ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting, maintaining a robust control environment, and driving technical accounting excellence! As our new Director of Accounting, you will have a critical and hands-on leadership role, reporting to VP, site Finance in Copenhagen - and with the potential of getting extended responsibilities by leading the areas of transactional services like payroll, payables and receivables. You will quickly become the go-to expert for all local accounting matters, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and Danish statutory requirements and tax authorities. While this is a Director-level position, we are seeking a leader who is passionate about not just leading a team, but also rolling up their sleeves to get the job done! You will have the opportunity to shape, build and develop the accounting and transactional teams to deliver on the department objectives.   • Financial Reporting & Compliance: You will lead the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Danish statutory requirements. The role will be responsible for meeting all financial and tax compliance standards, meeting with third party audit and tax authorities and focusing on complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition under IFRS 15.
  • Audit & Controls: You will serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external  audits including statutory and tax, as well as ensuring all requirements are met timely and efficiently. The role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a strong internal control framework (J-SOX – Japan SOX).
  • Technical Accounting Leadership: You will provide expert technical guidance on all local accounting matters, including new standards and complex transactions, general ledger balance sheet reconciliations and ensuring alignment with local reporting requirements.
  • Operational Excellence: You will actively oversee and participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations and systems.
  • Team Leadership: You will lead, mentor, shape and develop the local accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance, accuracy, and professional growth. We are proud to share that this team is super skilled!
  • Global Business Partnership: You will collaborate closely with local teams and the global finance organization on a variety of topics as financial closing and consolidation, intercompany transactions, JSOX and compliance initiatives as well as partnering with the global corporate controller on accounting related initiatives. Experience in international global company environment is desirable.
  • Leading Transactional Services: We are extending the scope of the role to potentially include leading two great teams - the AP and AR teams.

We are looking for a proactive people leader with extensive accounting expertise

Your extensive accounting experience will come into play from day one! The weight of the role typically translates into 10-15 years of experience, ideally gained from a large, publicly listed company or similar. Your technical accounting expertise is crucial and covers IFRS (especially IFRS 15 and ideally in Biomanufacturing environment) and Danish tax and accounting regulations. A relevant background for this role would be an Accounting Bachelor and/or Master degree, and Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, MAcc). The company currently has a major focus on ERP, so bringing knowledge of ERP systems is key while experience with a new ERP implementation is preferred. Further, we are looking for someone who has successfully managed statutory audits and has a strong understanding of intercompany transaction regulations.


As a leader, your approach is hands-on, you are comfortable directing strategy as you are diving into the details of a complex accounting entry. You have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to both local and global stakeholders. If you have experience working in international/global companies and matrix environments, you will quickly adapt to the way AGC Biologics is organized.
