Job Summary

The Office for Global Professionals and Scholars supports nearly 3,000 international employees, scholars, and students representing 87 countries across our system. We are seeking an experienced, collaborative Senior Immigration Advisor to guide and support this important work.In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to hospital leadership, HR teams, international faculty, staff, and scholars on complex immigration and visa-related matters. You will manage a diverse caseload, prepare employment-based visa petitions, ensure institutional compliance with federal immigration regulations, and help create a positive experience for international employees and scholars navigating the U.S. immigration process.

Hybrid Schedule - 2-3x/wk onsite at Assembly Row (Somerville) required.
What You’ll Do
• Advise employees, scholars, managers, and HR partners on non-immigrant visa options, sponsorship processes, travel/reentry requirements, maintenance of status, and related immigration matters
• Prepare and manage employment-based visa petitions, including initial filings, transfers, and extensions, using electronic filing systems
• Maintain expertise in immigration regulations related to J, F, H, O, TN, E, and B visa classifications, as well as permanent residency processes
• Monitor and interpret changing immigration regulations, agency guidance, and presidential proclamations to assess organizational impact
• Serve as an Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) and support institutional compliance with federal immigration regulations
• Partner closely with HR and operational leadership to address complex immigration-related questions and workforce planning needs
• Lead orientation sessions and educational presentations for newly arrived international staff and scholars
• Support process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and customer experience
• Assist in training and mentoring newer team members on immigration processes and best practices
• Represent Mass General Brigham at immigration-related professional forums and industry events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or Juris Doctor (JD) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience advising on employment-based immigration and visa regulations
- Strong working knowledge of USCIS, Department of Labor (DOL), Department of State (DOS), and SEVIS requirements
- U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status required for ARO certification under federal regulations
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and effectively
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High level of attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and departments
