Make an Impact Beyond Procurement

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, our Mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. Every day, our teams support groundbreaking scientific discoveries, advanced manufacturing, and life-changing innovations.

About the Business

At Thermo Fisher Scientific's Materials & Structural Analysis Division (MSD), we develop and manufacture electron microscopes and analytical instruments that help customers explore materials and structures at the atomic level. Our technologies support advancements in semiconductor manufacturing, materials science, and life sciences research.

As a Procurement Business Partner, you will play a key role in ensuring a resilient and competitive supply chain that supports both our manufacturing operations and future innovation.

As a Procurement Business Partner, you will play a critical role in connecting business strategy with procurement execution. You will work closely with Operations, R&D, Quality, Finance, and global sourcing teams to ensure supply continuity, enhance supply resilience, improve profitability, and drive long-term value across the supply chain. You will serve as the key procurement interface for the business, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring alignment between operational needs and procurement priorities.

This is a highly visible role for an experienced procurement professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, influencing decision-making, and delivering measurable business impact in a dynamic global environment.

What You'll Do

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Partner with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to support operational, financial, and strategic objectives.
  • Translate business requirements into procurement priorities and ensure alignment with global category and sourcing strategies.
  • Contribute to division profitability through productivity, cost optimization, and value creation programs.
  • Lead or support strategic projects focused on productivity, supply resilience, process improvement, and supply chain optimization.
  • Build strong partnerships with suppliers and internal stakeholders across Operations, R&D, Quality, Finance, and Global Procurement.

Productivity, Transfer & Value Engineering Projects

  • Lead procurement workstreams for manufacturing transfer, supplier transition, and supply chain optimization projects.
  • Drive Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives to improve competitiveness, reduce total cost, and enhance product value.
  • Identify and implement productivity opportunities through supplier collaboration, commercial negotiations, and process improvements.
  • Support make-versus-buy assessments, supplier footprint optimization, and sourcing decisions that improve business performance.
  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on cost reduction, operational efficiency, supply continuity, and long-term value creation.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, supplier management, or business partnering roles within a multinational environment.
  • Proven experience managing complex supplier relationships and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and supply chain operations.
  • Experience supporting business-critical projects or operational transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across a matrix organization without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable business decisions.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in high-tech manufacturing, life sciences, medical devices, analytical instruments, or other regulated industries.
  • Background in supplier development or supply continuity management.
  • Experience leading cost reduction, productivity, transfer, or value engineering initiatives.
  • Professional procurement or supply chain certifications (CPSM, CIPS, APICS, CPIM, or equivalent).

What Makes You Successful

  • You thrive in complex and evolving environments.
  • You balance strategic thinking with practical execution.
  • You proactively identify risks and opportunities before they impact the business.
  • You build trust quickly and collaborate effectively across global teams.
  • You are driven by results and motivated by creating long-term value.

Why Join Thermo Fisher Scientific?

At Thermo Fisher Scientific, your work directly contributes to innovations that improve lives around the world. You'll join a collaborative global organization where your ideas matter, your expertise is valued, and your career growth is actively supported.

Together, we empower our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
