Job Summary: Plan coordinate and direct quality assurance program that ensures quality production of products consistent with established Quality Management System standards, customer, and Company requirements, as well as champions a continuous improvement system, processes and organization that aggressively reduces non-conforming materials.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibility:
  • Manage all employees in the Quality Assurance department directly or indirectly through department supervisors. 
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Quality Assurance department.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Conduct employee development through challenging assignments, technical conferences, seminars and formal training.
Process Management:
  • Monitor internal processes
    • Coordination of SPC implementation and execution
    • Reporting of operating discrepancies to the appropriate manager
    • Ongoing training and certification of operations personnel as required
Quality Management:
  • Maintain a compliant ISO/IATF 16949 Quality Management System
    • The management representative for the Prescott Division
    • Coordinates the quality activities that are required to support the ISO/IATF 16949 Quality Management System
  • Establish and audit all quality procedures and system per ISO/IATF 16949 standards
    • Report audit findings and system performances as required by the system
    • Research and refine Quality Management Systems and procedures
  • Vendor relations liaison
    • Improve and strengthen vendor relations through facility audits
    • Identification of vendor performance metrics and assist the tracking of vendor performance
  • Facilitate the collection of data, analyze the Quality System Report and implement effective preventative and corrective actions with the support of manufacturing and engineering.  Some of the potential tools are:
    • In-process scrap and trend reports
    • Returned material and DPPM levels
    • Corrective Action / Preventative Action
    • Report findings to management staff
  • Maintain a working knowledge of government and industrial quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Participate in Material Review Board Activities and Feasibility Review to meet Customer Specific Requirements as needed. 
  • Develop policies and procedures relating to the quality management system as appropriate.
  • Lead Site Internal Auditor who issues Audit Reports and monitors corrective actions for closure from the Audit.
  • Participate on the Company's Continuous Improvement Plan.
Project Management: 
  • Define projects that improve the quality of the product or the quality management system.
  • Projects should be proactive and seek root cause solutions.
  • Establish priority for projects with a customer driven focus.
Customer Support and Problem Resolution:
  • Interface with customers to resolve quality problems or concerns
  • Take ownership of customer complaints and facilitate the completion of the necessary corrective actions
  • Approve and receive RMA’s, and as needed, complete failure analysis to determine root cause.
  • Schedule, prepares and participates in customer and third-party audits.
  • Participate in customer visits (both internal and external).
Safety:
  • Propose improvements to safety related operating procedures for production equipment, chemical handling and employee personal safety equipment.
  • Regularly review work areas and examines tools/equipment to detect unsafe conditions or violations of safety rules.
  • Evaluate processes for ergonomics, equipment guarding, and general safety to meet or exceed OSHA regulations.
  • Ensure all Job Hazard Analysis are reviewed when changes are made to a process.
Environmental:
  • Help coordinate the Quality functions of the Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Direct efforts of the Quality Department in ISO 14001 compliance
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • ISO/IATF 16949 system management experience. Prefer ASQ Certified Quality title.
  • Prior supervisory experience.  Takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; makes self-available to staff; provides regular performance feedback.
  • Experience working with mathematical calculations.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF16949, AS9100 and ISO14000.
  • PCB and IPC Standard Experience
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet Software, Word Processing and MiniTab software.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to analyze and collect data.
  • Project Management - develops project plans.
  • Technical Skills -strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.
  • Customer service orientated.
  • Able to work on a team and build team dynamics.
  • Change Management - Develops workable implementation plans.
  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities -uses time efficiently.
  • Quality - Finds ways to improve and promote quality. 
Education and/or Experience   Required Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university in engineering or related field; and a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment working with quality programs
