Position Summary
The Sr. Manager, Operations Data Governance is responsible for establishing and operationalizing an enterprise data governance program focused on the accuracy, trustworthiness, consistency, and usability of Operations and Supply Chain data assets across various global manufacturing sites. This role ensures that operational data spanning all domains of Supply Chain and Operations is standardized, governed, and aligned to global KPI definitions and analytics needs. The role leads the definition of policies, stewardship models, quality standards, and certification processes that ensure all operational reporting, analytics, and performance dashboards rely on trusted, validated, and well‑documented data.
This position plays a supporting role in Master Data Management (MDM) driving governance standards, DQ rules, domain definitions, and stewardship processes. The Sr. Manager partners closely with the MDM team, Data Engineering, Operations Analytics, ERP/MES/SCM system owners, and functional SMEs to harmonize data and elevate operational data quality across the enterprise. A core accountability of this role is the creation and stewardship of an Operations Business Glossary and an Enterprise Data Catalog, ensuring that all KPIs, data elements, definitions, metadata, and certified datasets are documented, discoverable, reusable, and consistently applied across domains, sites, systems, and data assets.
This is a hybrid role with the requirement of working onsite in Mentor, OH 3 days/week. Up to 20% travel. Relocation Assistance to Mentor, OH is provided. This role is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship of H1B Transfer.
What You'll do as Senior Manager of Operations Data Governance
Governance Leadership & Standards Development (40%)
- Develop and execute the Operations & Supply Chain data governance strategy aligned to the 3‑year modern data platform roadmap.
- Create and maintain the Operations Business Glossary, ensuring clear and consistent definitions across all operational domains.
- Own the enterprise Data Catalog for Operations, including metadata standards, certification tags, ownership, and discoverability.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of a KPI dictionary, including critical Operations metrics that will drive cost reduction, cash flow improvement, and revenue generation.
- Define and enforce data governance policies, naming conventions, metadata guidelines, and semantic layer standards.
- Establish and run the governance operating model: councils, decision-making structures, cadences, and escalation procedures.
- Define and manage dashboard governance standards for Tableau/Power BI, including templates, filters, descriptions, and certification badges.
Data Quality, Certification, and Stewardship Management (30%)
- Build and oversee data certification workflows for datasets, semantic layers, and dashboards.
- Define and monitor data quality rules and SLAs across all Operations & Supply Chain domains.
- Conduct root-cause analysis of data defects and collaborate with upstream process owners to remediate issues at their source.
- Support MDM activities, helping define domain standards, governance rules, and DQ expectations.
- Partner with Data Engineering to embed DQ checks, lineage capture, and validation logic into Snowflake, Informatica, and Tableau pipelines.
- Establish and operationalize a data stewardship model, including steward responsibilities, onboarding, and accountability.
Cross‑Functional Alignment, Enablement & Adoption (30%)
- Drive cross-functional alignment on KPI definitions, glossary terms, and governance standards across supply chain, manufacturing, procurement, planning, and quality teams.
- Partner with site operational leaders to ensure consistent site onboarding to governed data, definitions, and standards.
- Develop and deliver training and enablement for stewards, BI teams, SMEs, and site personnel on governance standards and catalog/glossary usage.
- Lead governance communications, including standards releases, readiness updates, policy changes, and adoption summaries.
- Influence stakeholders at all levels by articulating the operational and financial impact of governed versus ungoverned data.
- Lead change management efforts to shift behaviors from site‑specific data practices to enterprise standards, using structured communication, readiness assessments, and stakeholder engagement plans to drive consistent adoption of governance policies and certified datasets.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, Business, Statistics, Supply Chain Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
- 10+ years of Enterprise Data Governance leadership experience.
- 7-10+ years of progressive experience designing, implementing, or scaling a data governance program, including standards, ownership models, governance cadence, and certification processes.
- 7-10+ years leading cross-functional initiatives (Operations, IT, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain), including influencing without direct authority, driving adoption of standards, and executing change management strategies across distributed teams or multiple sites.
- 5+ years of experience working directly with manufacturing operations and/or supply chain functions (planning, procurement, inventory, logistics, quality), with the ability to translate business processes into governed data definitions and actionable KPI logic.
- Experience building and maintaining metadata practices, business glossaries, and data catalog solutions (e.g., Purview, Collibra, Alation), including lineage, documentation standards, certification tagging, and content discoverability.

- Deep understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain processes, and operational KPIs.
- Strong familiarity with ERP/MES/SCM systems (SAP, Oracle, MAPPS, Syteline, etc.), including how transactional data is generated and consumed across operational processes.
- Knowledge of how operational data drives forecasting, S&OP, quality, sourcing, and compliance processes.
- Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to diagnose upstream process issues, identify root causes, and design corrective actions across multiple sites and systems.
- Ability to communicate complex technical or data-driven findings in clear, concise terms that are easily understood by both technical teams and non‑technical business leaders.
- Strong verbal, written, and visual storytelling skills, capable of presenting insights, discrepancies, risks, and recommended actions to senior leadership.
- Proven experience leading without authority, influencing cross-functional teams, and driving alignment across distributed manufacturing and supply chain organizations.
- Skilled facilitator capable of running governance councils, steward workshops, SME testing sessions, and cross-site harmonization meetings.
- Ability to design and execute change management strategies, driving adoption of standards, glossary, catalog usage, and certified datasets across the Operations network.

Pay range for this opportunity is $135,000 - $161,000. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
