Schedule: Must be able to work 5 days per week and 6-8 hours per day
                                                                 
Job Purpose: ‘Browse’ is any approved plant species that can be consumed as part of an animal’s diet. The Bronx Zoo Horticulture department is seeking 2 dedicated individuals to be part of our animal browse team.  Associates will work with the Animal and Horticulture staff in the harvesting, preparation and delivery of plant material for the supplemental feeding of our animals.  Ideal candidates will have prior experience or strong interest in Horticulture, Botany, Gardening, landscaping or caring for animals in a zoo setting. 

Essential Duties

• Harvesting and preparing plant material from trees and shrubs growing on zoo grounds for animal consumption
• Occasionally picking up plant material from browse partners outside of the zoo
• Delivering browse to animals throughout the zoo
• Proper identification of plant material collected for feeding to animals
• Collecting of branch material for furnishing of animal habitats
• Other duties and projects related to animal browse as assigned
