Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Immigration Senior Associate to join our Japan practice. In this client-facing role, you will be responsible for managing corporate immigration services for multinational clients, ensuring compliance with Japanese immigration laws and regulations, and contributing to the strategic growth of our immigration practice.
As a key member of the global mobility team, you will lead client engagements, supervise junior staff, and collaborate closely with tax, mobility, and legal professionals across borders to deliver seamless and compliant immigration solutions.
Key responsibilities:
You will work within a close-knit team, sharing your knowledge and expertise with others, as well as continuing to build your own technical expertise or specialism.
Prepare documents to be submitted to the Immigration Bureau of Japan.
Provide consultations for the preparation of documents to be submitted to the Immigration Bureau of Japan.
Submit document and communicate with the Immigration Bureau on the client's behalf.
Responsible for managing own assignments/clients and driving the process for said client.
Delegation and coordination with internal and overseas teams.
Managing cases from beginning to end, ensuring all costs accounted for and cases billed.
Conduct ad-hoc duties, as instructed by line manager.
Research/validate document requirements, application procedures, timeframes, eligibility issues with the Immigration Bureau by phone or occasionally in person, if required; develop effective working relationships with the Immigration Bureau.
Develop effective client relationships.
Proactively seek opportunities in the market.
Advise clients on global immigration policies and processes.
Provide strategic management and planning.
Liaise with HR contacts to support the visa process.
Identify business opportunities and contribute to client pursuits.
Undertake research to stay informed of market activity.
Connect market trends and insights to client issues and business factors.
Support the management of key client relationships and build and strengthen own network within the firm and externally with clients.
Support process improvement initiatives and digital transformation efforts within the immigration function.
Qualifications
3 to 5 years professional experience.
Have an ability to build relationships and communicate with people at all levels.
High levels of resilience, with experience of working in a highly pressurized client centric environment.
A self-starter.
Possess excellent attention to detail.
Be an excellent communicator – written and verbal Japanese and English.
Have strong organisational, literacy and numeracy skills.
Ability to prioritize task list.
Awareness and understanding of the Professional Services industry
Awareness and understanding of Global Immigration laws/issues
Understanding of Global HR of Japanese entities.
