The Estimator is responsible for thoroughly reviewing documents, collecting data required to customize equipment to comply with specific customer needs, and reaching out to customers for further information before creating an accurate Estimate. The Estimate will be converted to an order and released to the Application Engineering Dept. for any engineering requirements or manufacturing.
Requirements
We are searching for a candidate with:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent industry experience with certification may be substituted.
- Relevant experience as an Estimator or similar position in the elevator, manufacturing, or a related industry preferred.
- 2+ years working in a Sales environment
- Experience utilizing CPQ, ERP, or estimating software will be considered a strong asset.
- Strong ability to read and interpret project drawings, specifications, and scope of work requirements to prepare detailed and accurate quotations.
- Familiarity with elevator products or similar construction equipment
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments, outside sales representatives, and customers to ensure successful outcomes.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to details and commitment to accuracy.
Duties and Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Become knowledgeable of all product lines
- Understand customer jobs, projects, specifications, and their requirements
- Provide top-notch customer service, maintain a constant flow of information to all parties, and build relationships with Customers.
- Gather required information from the job and the contractor/consultant. If there are discrepancies in any documents, they will reach out to the customer and verify information via email or telephone.
- Conduct research to obtain data on optional equipment and engineering requirements
- Use software for estimating options, selections, and estimate creation
- Obtain and review offers and quotes by other contractors
- Create and submit estimate reports to the sales management team
- Schedule and manage project timelines and ensure all obligations are fulfilled while meeting the desired deadlines requested by Customers and the supervisor
- Interface with key engineering and technical staff to ensure estimates meet customer and specification requirements
- Other duties as assigned

- Salary for New York City-based applicants: $60,000 - $67,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and in keeping with local legislation).
