A Snapshot 

As Community Manager based in our Tokyo office, you will report to the Associate Vice President of Social Impact and Community and work closely with various teams and leadership across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, making your mark in a number of ways: 

  • You will be responsible for helping AirTrunk maximise positive impact on Japan communities and finding ways to help them solve complex problems 
  • Collaborating with like-minded stakeholders such as local governments, neighbours, utilities, customers and suppliers to deepen relationships and collectively work together to effect positive and meaningful change in the community 
  • Implementing AirTrunk's community engagement program that aligns with our strategy, values and business objectives 
  • Fostering impactful and deep social impact partnerships with external and internal stakeholders 

Your Day to Day  

  • Community Engagement: Develop and execute comprehensive, proactive community engagement strategies for our communities including stakeholder mapping, research, and detailed analysis of sentiment and priorities. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, community organizations, non-profits, local governments, and industry peers in communities in which we operate or are planning to operate. 
  • Development support: support project development activities by supporting community outreach, engagement, consultation and communication. Support the planning and facilitation of community meetings and act as a central point of contact for all community stakeholders including facilitating site tours. 
  • Communication: Serve as the project specialist on community impact and work closely with internal groups, neighbours and delivery partners to communicate the strategy and achievements and efforts through various channels in close partnership with other internal teams. 
  • Community Feedback: Develop, implement and maintain a mechanism to managed community feedback through project development, construction and operation. 
  • Other projects – Support other projects and activities as required, including market expansion, community engagement, site visits, social impact initiatives and project milestones. 

Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, Business, Environmental Studies, Real Estate, Engineering, Public Policy). 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project development, project management, community engagement corporate social responsibility, sustainability or a related field  
  • Proven track record of supporting the development of major infrastructure projects including approvals, multi-stakeholder dynamics and direct community engagement in Tokyo and/or Osaka.  
  • Experience in developing materials to be used to educate audiences about a specific project, in both Word and Powerpoint, and delivering such materials in formal and informal forums (i.e. public events, private stakeholder meetings, site visits) 
  • Experience in engaging and fostering alignment with communities in a wide range of geographies, including throughout both urban and regional areas in Japan 
  • Strong commercial orientation with discerning interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Passionate about sustainability and social impact 
  • Fluency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken) 
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills 
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and navigate through ambiguity. 
  • Prior experience in the energy, real estate or data centre industry is a plus. 
  • Ability to travel domestically and abroad
