Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Wall Assembly & Installation

  • Position, align, and secure interior and exterior walls according to engineering specifications, blueprints, and DAPIA requirements.
  • Carry, place, and secure wall components within the home structure.
  • Align and connect wall-to-wall, wall-to-floor, and wall-to-ceiling assemblies.
  • Install and secure sidewalls using hoists, clamps, straps, and fastening equipment.
  • Tie interior and exterior wall systems together as required.

Material Preparation & Finishing

  • Measure, cut, and fit wall coverings, sheetrock, and related materials.
  • Route openings for receptacles, switches, and other required penetrations.
  • Pull wiring through routed openings and secure wiring as required.
  • Apply caulks, sealants, and fire-stopping materials in designated areas.
  • Remove scrap materials and maintain a clean work area.

Blueprint Interpretation & Quality

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, measurements, and production documents.
  • Verify wall placement, openings, and dimensions.
  • Measure and record required openings and dimensions.
  • Complete required production documentation and sign travelers upon completion of assigned work.
  • Maintain established quality standards throughout the assembly process.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support production goals and team objectives.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization.
  • Actively participate in cross-training and skill development opportunities to increase versatility and support department operations.
  • Maintain proficiency in trained job functions and apply skills as needed to meet business demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Manufacturing, construction, or assembly experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read blueprints and production specifications.
  • Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
  • Good reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools and production equipment.

  • Overhead hoists and cranes
  • Routers
  • Staple guns
  • Nail guns
  • Screw guns
  • Reciprocating saws
  • Air jacks and pallet jacks
  • General hand tools
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE)

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, stretching, climbing, and reaching.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb on, off, and through homes repeatedly throughout the workday.
  • Ability to distinguish colors when performing assigned tasks.
  • Frequent use of hands for gripping, lifting, measuring, fastening, and material handling.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, construction materials, and moving equipment.
  • Exposure to sheetrock dust, sealants, and adhesives.
  • Work performed in an uncontrolled climate environment.
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times.

Testing Requirements

  • Pre-employment drug screen.
  • Hearing test.
